Manchester United have been handed a double fitness boost, with both Darren Fletcher and Robin van Persie included in the squad to face Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
Scotsman Fletcher has been sidelined from competitive action for 10 months after being diagnosed with a serious bowel condition.
While he is not 100% yet, Fletcher managed to complete a full game for United reserves in midweek and manager Sir Alex Ferguson is happy with his progress.
"He's in the squad tomorrow, simply because I think it will give him a boost. It's a chance to progress. At this moment in time everything's going fine for him," Ferguson said.
"We understand the condition he has to deal with [ulcerative collitis]. That can change but hopefully he's managed to conquer it in terms of his diet and how he handles it. Things are going well at the moment."
Meanwhile, summer signing Van Persie has shrugged off an injury he picked up on international duty with Netherlands and should start at Old Trafford.
Shinji Kagawa and Jonny Evans have also been passed fit as the Red Devils go in search of a third consecutive win.
