Louis van Gaal slams media for questions about his Manchester United future

Louis van Gaal slams the media for their constant questions over his Manchester United future.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has hit out at the media for constantly asking questions about his future at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman has been under scrutiny throughout the campaign due to United's inconsistent performances on the pitch.

Some reports have claimed that former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is waiting in the wings to take over when Van Gaal is sacked.

Following Sunday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Van Gaal was once again asked about his job.

One reporter in the post-match press conference asked the manager if the team's display has improved because "the club is trying to replace you".

In response, Van Gaal said: "You have spoken with [executive vice-chairman] Ed Woodward? Why do they have to deny? I don't interfere neither.

"Why do the club have to deny it when you are creating stories. Okay, Okay, so you haven't spoken to Ed Woodward or [United's owners] the Glazers, so you are inventing this story. I don't have to answer this question."

Van Gaal spoke directly to a reporter and said: "You are getting the sack tomorrow. What is your name? Then I can announce the name also. [You can] look at your wife or maybe you have children or a nephew or something like that.

"We have to do better. We have to improve in that way, but I'm happy with the performance. It was not a 'boring' match, so for the third time in a row it was sparkling. So I also hope to get the support of the media this week."

United are currently fifth in the Premier League table, six points adrift of Manchester City, who occupy fourth.
