Man Utd's Andreas Pereira still waiting for Louis van Gaal to "fulfil his word"

Andreas Pereira says that he is still waiting for Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal to "fulfil his word" regarding more first-team opportunities.

Manchester United youngster Andreas Pereira has criticised manager Louis van Gaal for not keeping his promise to give the Brazilian more minutes in the first team.

The 20-year-old has revealed that he wanted to leave the Red Devils on loan in January to gain more experience, but he was denied by Van Gaal.

Pereira has claimed that the Dutchman told him that he would feature more prominently in the first team if he stayed, but the midfielder has played just 43 minutes.

In total, Pereira, who joined United's academy from PSV Eindhoven in 2011, has been used in 11 games this season under Van Gaal.

"He told me to stay in Manchester because he would use me and that I would play," The Mirror quotes Pereira as saying. "I wanted to be loaned out in January in order to play more and to keep developing myself, but Van Gaal told me that he did not want me to be loaned out.

"I told him that was fine, and that if I could stay and play then I would. He did not let me leave. I took the decision and now I'm training, doing my job and waiting for him to fulfil his word."

Van Gaal's future remains in doubt amid reports that Jose Mourinho is waiting to take over in the summer.
