Manchester United are reportedly ready to hand the club captaincy to midfielder Paul Pogba next season.

Manchester United have reportedly identified midfielder Paul Pogba as the club's next captain.

Pogba had been made vice-skipper by previous boss Jose Mourinho earlier in the campaign, before the Portuguese opted to strip the Frenchman of the added responsibility.

However, Pogba has been in instrumental form since the arrival of caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and it appears that United have been left impressed.

According to The Sun, the 25-year-old has been identified as the long-term replacement for right-back Antonio Valencia after the club opted against extending the Ecuadorian's contract.

Pogba has less than two-and-a-half years on his own deal, and United will hope that a promotion both on and off the pitch will encourage their record signing to extend his stay at Old Trafford.
