Chelsea have reportedly joined Manchester United in the race to sign Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao.
The Premier League champions moved for the Portuguese defender on transfer deadline day, only for it to collapse late on with reports suggesting that Los Blancos could not find adequate cover.
Red Devils boss David Moyes has been linked with a return for the 25-year-old, who was said to be heartbroken when the initial deal fell through.
However, the Daily Mail reports that Jose Mourinho, his compatriot and former coach at the Bernabeu, is lining up a short-term deal in January with a view to a permanent move.
The pair also have the same agent, Jorge Mendes.
