Manchester United are reportedly 'on red alert' for Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn.
The Scotland international has again been in impressive form at club level during the 2021-22 campaign, making 21 appearances in all competitions, scoring three times and contributing two assists.
A recent report claimed that Man United are admirers of McGinn and are ready to pursue a potential deal during this summer's transfer window.
Villa boss Steven Gerrard said last month that the midfielder was not for sale after being questioned on his future amid talk of interest from Man United.
However, according to The Mirror, after learning that Gerrard's side want to move for Leicester City's Wilfred Ndidi, the Red Devils have been given a boost in their pursuit of the Scot.
The 27-year-old has scored 16 goals and registered 21 assists in 132 matches for Villa since joining the club from Hibernian in August 2018.
Man United are expected to sign at least one new central midfielder during this summer's transfer window, with Paul Pogba set to leave the club following the expiration of his contract.
