Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking to hijack Barcelona's proposed move for Swedish starlet Lucas Bergvall of Djurgardens IF.
The 17-year-old is widely regarded as one of brightest young talents to emerge from Scandinavia having already made a notable impression in the early stages of his senior career.
A host of top European clubs have been credited with an interest in Bergvall, including La Liga champions Barcelona, who appeared to be leading the race for his signature.
Last month, Djugardens sporting director Bo Andersson revealed that he has held initial discussions with the Catalan giants about a potential move for the teenage midfielder.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has since reported that Djurgardens are expected to accept Barca's offer of €7m (£6m) plus €3m (£2.6m) in add-ons for Bergvall, who has made it clear that he wants to move to Camp Nou this summer.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Tottenham have made an enquiry for Bergvall and are set to rival Barcelona for the youngster's signature.

Manchester United, Newcastle United, Inter Milan, Atalanta BC, Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt, RB Leipzig and Rennes are also said to be keeping tabs on Bergvall, who is under contract at Djugardens until December 2025.
Bergvall began his career with Brommapojkarna where he made 12 first-team appearances, including his debut as a 16-year-old, before moving to fellow Swedish outfit Djurgardens in December last year.
The technically gifted box-to-box midfielder made 28 appearances last season for Djurgardens, who finished fourth in the Allsvenskan table and narrowly missed out on European qualification.
Bergvall was rewarded for his fine form at club level with his first senior international cap for Sweden, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 2-1 friendly win over Estonia on January 12.
Tottenham's interest in Bergvall comes at a time when the long-term future of midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is believed to be uncertain.
However, Hojbjerg's lawyer has revealed that the 28-year-old will remain at Spurs for the rest of the season despite reported interest from the likes of Lyon and Juventus.
