Mick Harford, Ian Wright join MK Dons coaching staff

Mick Harford is confirmed as Karl Robinson's assistant manager at MK Dons while Ian Wright is implemented into the coaching staff.

MK Dons have announced that Mick Harford will join the club as Karl Robinson's assistant manager, while Ian Wright will become part of the coaching staff.

The League One side have welcomed former Luton boss Harford as John Gorman's replacement, while Arsenal legend Wright will coach the first team on a part-time basis.

"I believe I have picked the two best people to help me and the squad with our promotion ambitions next season," Robinson told the club's official website. "Mick is an incredible man and a fantastic coach who is well respected in the game. He has a fear factor about him, but he is a football person and I think I need to be surrounded by football people.

"Ian Wright hasn't got his qualifications yet but he is working towards them and he will provide invaluable experience, knowledge and inspiration to our players.

"For a while Ian will work with the team through the week, he can't be with us at weekends because of other contractual commitments, but he will be here Monday to Friday and he will be involved in all our midweek games. I'm very honoured that the two have decided to come on board and join my backroom staff."

Harford said: "I am absolutely thrilled Karl has given me the opportunity to work with him and assist him in managing MK Dons.

"It is an honour to follow in John Gorman's footsteps and I am excited at the prospect of joining Karl and the team. Karl has the same football ethos as me and having seen the team on Tuesday night I feel very positive about the squad."

Wright added: "I have spent the last year around MK Dons Football Club and I am delighted to now be part of the set-up. I am thankful to Karl for allowing me the chance to start my coaching career and I am already excited about the new season.

"The group of players we have at MK Dons are an extremely talented bunch and I am looking to working with them on a daily basis."

MK Dons failed to reach the League One playoff final after losing 3-2 on aggregate to Huddersfield Town.
