Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirms that the club's interest in signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic is genuine.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has made it clear that the club's interest in signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic is genuine.

Ibrahimovic becomes a free agent once his contract at Los Angeles Galaxy expires in December following two seasons during which he scored 52 times for the California side.

The Swede has good experience of playing in Serie A following spells at Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan.

Speaking on the subject of the striker, De Laurentiis told Sky Italia: "[Ibrahimovic] is a friend, I met him in Los Angeles not as a footballer but as a normal person because we were in the same hotel.

"I invited him over for dinner with his wife and kids and we had an amazing time. It would be my wish to see him in Napoli colours, it's more than a suggestion and it depends on him. It's been talked about for a few months now."

Reports have also suggested that Bologna had tabled a six-month contract offer to Ibrahimovic, who is good friends with manager Sinisa Mihajlovic.

The 38-year-old has spoken of how he would be open to a return to Serie A over the January transfer window.
