Ryan Taylor plays down injury fears

Injury-prone Ryan Taylor reveals that he has "no major problem" after being withdrawn in the first half of Newcastle United's victory over Queens Park Rangers.

Newcastle United defender Ryan Taylor has revealed that he did not suffer a serious injury in Saturday's victory over Queens Park Rangers.

The 30-year-old, who was making his first Premier League start for the Magpies in 32 months, was withdrawn in the first half of the 1-0 triumph at St James' Park.

It was initially feared that Taylor had suffered a recurrence of the knee injury which has sidelined him throughout the past couple of years, but he tonight took to Twitter to confirm that had avoided any serious damage.

"Thank you all for your positive messages. I appreciate them all, just to let you know I have no major problem an I had to come off today just to be on the safe side," he posted.

"I was just gutted to come off that's why I got so emotional as I've worked so hard to get back. Thanks again."

The win for Newcastle, which was their sixth on the bounce in all competitions, temporarily lifted them into the top four of the table.
