Krul: 'New signings a boost'

Tim Krul says that Newcastle United's January signings have given the club a much-needed boost.

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul has no doubts that the club's activity in the January transfer window has given them a boost going into the second half of the season.

The Magpies brought in six new players last month, including Mathieu Debuchy, Moussa Sissoko and Yoan Gouffran, who have all made an instant impact.

The Toon Army have won two of their last three games, and Krul believes that their recent form is a sign of things to come.

"We have had a really hard time during the first half of the season, but with these new faces coming in, it gives us a massive boost and a lot of confidence," Krul told Sky Sports News.

"They have been fantastic. Normally you see with new players, they take a bit of time to settle. But these lads, from the moment they walked into the club, they have been great for us.

"We have still got a lot of hard games to play, but we can go into those games with a lot of confidence."

Newcastle host Metalist Kharkiv in the Europa League on Thursday.
