Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote has admitted that the club's new signing Luuk de Jong needs to hit the ground running for the Magpies.
Alan Pardew's side have failed to score in five of their last six Premier League games, and are currently without top scorer Loic Remy, who is suspended for two more matches after being sent off against Norwich City.
Tiote told the club's official website: "I think he's a goalscorer and he can hold the ball up front also. He's a good player and I hope he'll be there a lot because I think we need some good players to score goals.
"At the moment we're not scoring too many goals so I hope he will start scoring for us."
De Jong joined Newcastle on loan until the end of the season from Borussia Mochengladbach.
