Jack Warner cancels email "tsunami"

Jack Warner backs down on plans to reveal confidential emails between himself and Sepp Blatter.

Jack Warner has put on hold plans to make public private emails between himself and Sepp Blatter.

Warner is currently suspended as vice-president of FIFA for his alleged involvement in a corruption scandal along with Asian Football Confederation leader Mohamed Bin Hammam. It is claimed that money had been offered for votes in support of Bin Hammam's run for presidency.

He had suggested that the correspondence would clear his name while also creating a "tsunami" in the footballing world.

"I had plans to speak to you today a bit more on this matter but the best legal advice I received has suggested that I do not do so at this point in time and that advice I am going to respect," he told his constituency in Trinidad and Tobago yesterday.

"I haven't thieved anything, I haven't given anybody anything and I don't know what the hullabaloo is all about."

Meanwhile, 75-year-old Blatter stood unopposed at last week's FIFA presidential election after being cleared of bribery claims by the body's ethics committee.
