Keith Curle believes that his side gave away a "soft" second goal that turned out to be the winner for Hartlepool United.

Notts County manager Keith Curle has revealed his disappointment at his side's defending for the final goal in their 2-1 defeat to bottom side Hartlepool United.

Curle suggested that his players suffered from over-confidence and forgot how to do the simple things.

"It was a soft winner from our point of view, we spent a lot of time on defending and set plays, people know their jobs," Sky Sports News quotes Curle as saying.

"It's the most disappointing defeat of the season. We didn't start well, very slowly and a few players thought because of Hartlepool's position in the league they could turn up and win without performing."

Notts County are 10th in League One after the result.
