Preview: Perth Glory vs. Western Sydney Wanderers - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Friday's Australian A-League clash between Perth Glory and Western Sydney Wanderers, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Two teams at opposite ends of the A-League table will meet on Friday when second-placed Western Sydney Wanderers make the journey to face Perth Glory.

The hosts are currently second bottom in the division, and are going through a difficult period having failed to win in their previous six matches.

Perth Glory will be desperate to get back to winning ways on Friday after six consecutive matches without picking up three points, which has led to them slipping down the table.

Ruben Zadkovich finds himself under pressure as the club's manager right now, and he was left frustrated last weekend after they let a 1-0 lead slip against Western United.

Jordan Elsey put Perth Glory ahead in the 22nd minute, but two goals in the space of six minutes at the end of the first half led to them losing the match.

The Glory have been stronger at home throughout this season, with four of their five victories taking place on their own turf, which should bring a little more confidence to the team for this one.

However, defensively the team will need to improve as only one other club have conceded more goals than them so far this season in the A-League.

That is something that might alert the visitors, though, considering the fact they have scored 10 times in their previous three fixtures.

Western Sydney Wanderers won their most recent game 2-0 in an important clash against Central Coast Mariners, who also find themselves at the top end of the table.

Despite the fact that Marcelo ended up being sent off early on in the second half, goals from Brandon Borrello and Romain Amalfitano secured the result which pushed the club into second place.

Western Sydney Wanderers have closed the gap on the current league leaders to just six points due to their recent performances, which is something that they will now be aiming to push during the final stretch of the campaign.

However, away from home, the team have struggled to consistently pick up wins as they have only won twice while drawing five times and being beaten twice as well.

Team News

Ryan Williams could potentially make a return to the Perth Glory starting lineup after serving his one-match suspension, but it remains to be seen if he will be instantly reintroduced.

Darryl Lachman, Adrian Sardinero and Brad Jones are three players who the hosts have been without lately as well due to different injury problems.

Salim Khelifi is someone that provided a real threat last weekend from an attacking sense from the back, and that should lead to him retaining his place in the team this time around.

Marcelo will be missing on Friday for the visitors after he was sent off last weekend, which will see at least one change take place to the starting lineup this time around.

Outside of that, Western Sydney Wanderers could end up not making any other changes, with Tom Beadling likely to replace Marcelo.

Perth Glory possible starting lineup:
Cook; Elsey, Lachman, Beevers; Khelifi, Amini, Bodnar, Jelacic, Clisby; Williams, Taggart

Western Sydney Wanderers possible starting lineup:
Thomas; Cleur, Mrcela, Beadling, Bonetig; Amalfitano, Nieuwenhof; Wilmering, Bozanic; Yengi, Borrello

We say: Perth Glory 0-3 Western Sydney Wanderers

Perth Glory have been struggling as of late and considering the fact they are facing one of the strongest teams in the division this could wind up being a tough fixture for them.

Western Sydney Wanderers have been impressive in front of goal in their most recent games, and that is something that could lead to them picking up a comfortable three points here.
