Queens Park Rangers are held to a 1-1 draw at Huddersfield Town in the Championship.

Huddersfield Town have held Queens Park Rangers to a 1-1 draw in the Championship.

After taking the lead, Town were made to defend for much of the second half and relied on some good saves from their goalkeeper in the final minutes.

Charlie Austin was a threat for the visitors early on, winning a series of free kicks and narrowly missing the target with a couple of long-range efforts.

Huddersfield grew into the game after that, with Adam Clayton and Oscar Gobern becoming more involved, and eventually took the lead. James Vaughan continued his scoring form, heading in from Oliver Norwood's cross.

They were only ahead for a couple of minutes, though, as QPR hit back immediately thanks to Junior Hoilett's measured finish.

The home side had to hold firm at the beginning of the second half, defending several free kicks around the edge of the box well.

They could not do anything when Austin found space in the box, though, and were fortunate to see his header come back off the crossbar.

An excellent long-range effort from substitute Jermaine Jenas almost put QPR into the lead late on, before Sean Scannell missed by inches at the other end in the last minute.

Shaun Wright-Phillips curled an effort just wide of Alex Smithies's goal in stoppage time, before a second effort was tipped wide by the Huddersfield goalkeeper.

In the end, both sides had to settle for a point each.
