Half-Time Report: Wigan Athletic two goals ahead at Reading

Early goals from Chris McCann and Nick Powell put Wigan Athletic 2-0 up against Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

Goals from Chris McCann and Nick Powell in the opening 12 minutes have given Wigan Athletic a 2-0 half-time lead against Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

Having ended a run of four straight defeats last time out at Bolton Wanderers, Uwe Rosler's side went ahead through McCann, before Manchester United loanee Powell doubled the visitors' advantage to continue his fine form this season.

In a battle between last season's two relegated Premier League sides, Wigan have so far come out better, and victory will put Rosler's men back on track for a Championship playoff spot.

Jobi McAnuff had a blocked effort on goal late in the first period, but Nigel Adkins's side will have to turn things around in the second half.
