Reading manager Nigel Adkins has revealed that midfielder Jem Karacan suffered a serious knee injury against Leeds United on Wednesday night.
Karacan departed on a stretcher early on in his side's 1-0 victory, and Adkins admits that it looks as though the Turkish player could miss a significant part of the season.
"It's a serious injury," he told reporters. "We'll get a full diagnosis but we've got our suspicions and it's not looking good. It is a big blow.
"He is one of our own, he has come through the system and we will look after him and he will come back stronger for it."
The 24-year-old has scored two goals for Reading during their opening Championship fixtures of the season.
