Nigel Adkins has said that he will be looking to bring players to Reading who are "hungry".
The Royals manager is already planning for next season, with the club's relegation from the Premier League confirmed last month.
Adkins told Sky Sports News: "It is a great opportunity for us to review one or two targets for the summer. At this stage of the season the recruitment side of things kicks in at all football clubs and that'll be no different with ourselves.
"There'll be lots of speculation about players coming in, players going out, but we'll do our business as privately as we can, not getting involved in speculation.
"Our objective is to get a squad of players next season that will be hungry and harbour a desire to cope with the demands and challenges of the Championship, so that Reading can ultimately get back in the Premier League."
Adkins took over at the Madejski Stadium following Brian McDermott's dismissal in March.
