Brazilian left-back Roberto Carlos reveals that Jose Mourinho is set to stay at Real Madrid, despite reports linking him with a return to England.

Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos has revealed that Jose Mourinho has declared his intention to stay at the club beyond the end of the current season.

In December, the former Chelsea boss expressed his intent to return to England once his job at the Bernabeu is done.

Mourinho was jeered after Madrid's Copa del Rey exit to Barcelona in January, leading to speculation that he might quit before the end of his contract.

Carlos, who now plays for Russian side Anzhi alongside Samuel Eto'o, has suggested that such rumours are incorrect.

Speaking to Canal Plus, Carlos said: "He told me he has a running contract and that he will stay.

"I told him that if he changed his mind, Anzhi would be waiting for him with open arms.

"He is the best coach in the world."

The 38-year-old Brazilian left-back was presented with an award to commemorate his 11-year spell at Madrid before their 4-2 win over Levante.
