Real Madrid attacker Martin Odegaard was reportedly in attendance for Rennes's victory over Saint-Etienne on Sunday ahead of a proposed loan switch in the January transfer window.
The 17-year-old Norwegian was repeatedly linked with a move to the Ligue 1 high-flyers over the summer but the deal was scuppered due to FIFA regulations on the transfer of youth players.
Odegaard is due to turn 18 on December 17, however, which will free him up to move to France should Rennes remain interested.
Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has confirmed that Odegaard "could" leave the Bernabeu next month, having made just one senior start in his 23 months with the side.
Odegaard is thought to be earning £80,000 a week on his current deal with Los Blancos.
