Russia boss Dick Advocaat has praised his side despite their elimination from Euro 2012 on Saturday.
The Russians were defeated 1-0 by Greece as they were sent home from the competition. However, the 64-year-old has refused to blame his players.
"We played a brilliant first half. Our attackers were unfortunately not sharp enough. When the Greeks scored a goal, that changed the whole story," Advocaat told De Telegraaf.
"We had many opportunities, but were just not sharp enough to score. We went to the European Championships to win, not just to play. We tried to control the game and ultimately to decide it."
Advocaat will take over at PSV Eindhoven next season.
