Mauricio Pochettino in talks to sign new contract at Southampton?

Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly in talks with Southampton over signing a new contract as manager.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly in discussions with the Premier League club over signing a new contract at St Mary's.

The 42-year-old had previously been dogged by rumours that he could be on his way out of the club following the resignation of chairman Nicola Cortese.

However, the Argentine dismissed such suggestions and the club are hopeful that fresh terms will be agreed within the next few weeks, according to The Telegraph.

Reports have claimed that the Saints are eager to warn off interest from potential suitors, one of which is believed to be Tottenham Hotspur, who currently have Tim Sherwood in charge of first-team responsibilities.

Pochettino moved to Southampton in January last year following three years as coach at Espanyol.
