Tottenham Hotspur ace Son Heung-min's impressive record vs. Borussia Dortmund

Sports Mole looks at Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min's goalscoring return against Borussia Dortmund ahead of Spurs' trip to the Westfalenstadion.

Tottenham Hotspur head to the Westfalenstadion boasting a 3-0 lead from the first leg of their Champions League last-16 meeting with Borussia Dortmund.

Son Heung-min got the ball rolling for Spurs early in the second half at Wembley Stadium with a cushioned volley into the top corner of the net.

The South Korean's strike, followed by goals from Jan Vertonghen and Fernando Llorente, maintained his impressive goalscoring return against BVB and ensures that Tottenham are on the brink of a place in the quarter-finals.

Ahead of Tuesday's second leg in Germany, Sports Mole looks at Son's record against Dortmund in a little more depth.

Son has now scored nine goals in 11 appearances against Dortmund for Spurs and former clubs Hamburger SV and Bayer Leverkusen.

Four of those goals have come in his five meetings with the German club since joining Tottenham, having also netted in both of last season's Champions League group matches and in the Lilywhites' 2-1 defeat in the second leg of the sides' last-16 tie in the Europa League three years ago.

That follows on the back of a solid return during the 26-year-old's time in Bundesliga, as he scored four goals in three league fixtures between Hamburg and Dortmund, each of those coming in the 2012-13 season.

One goal in three such encounters for Leverkusen followed, and he has maintained that form across his four years with Spurs.

In 11 overall encounters with BVB, Son has been on the winning side seven times and lost three.
