Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino: 'FIFA Awards have motivated me'

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino says that attending the FIFA Awards on Monday night has provided him with "massive motivation".

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that he has been left motivated to achieve further success after attending the FIFA Awards in London.

Pochettino and forward Harry Kane received nominations for the best manager and player accolades, although the pair finished bottom of the standings in their respective categories.

However, the Argentine has admitted that he enjoyed spending time in illustrious company, and hopes that the North London outfit will receive more recognition in 12 months' time.

The 45-year-old told reporters: "I think it was fantastic yesterday to meet a lot of football people that it's difficult to meet in different places, and we enjoyed it a lot. It's always a thing that motivates you and I hope next season we will have a few players there, nominated.

"I think it was a massive motivation to be there yesterday and it can only help us to try to achieve big things, to be there one day."

Pochettino has won 97 of his 176 matches in charge of Spurs but the wait goes on for his first trophy as a manager.
