Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that Tottenham Hotspur were left "very disappointed" by their second-half display in the 2-1 loss to Newcastle United.
Spurs failed to build on Eric Dier's opener as Aleksandar Mitrovic hit back for the Magpies before Ayoze Perez secured the points for the visitors in stoppage time.
After watching his side impress before the interval, Pochettino found it difficult to reflect on the defeat as Tottenham's 14-game unbeaten run in the Premier League came to an end.
"Our first half was fantastic, we dominated the game," the Spurs boss told BBC Sport. "The second is not easy to explain.
"We made mistakes and we feel very disappointed now because we did not deserve to lose.
"But that is football and you need to compete over 95 minutes. Today was difficult."
Spurs remain three points behind fourth-placed Manchester United in the battle for Champions League qualification.
