Harry Redknapp wanted Carlos Tevez

Harry Redknapp says that Spurs made enquiries about the possibility of taking Carlos Tevez on loan.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that he asked chairman Daniel Levy to loan Carlos Tevez from Manchester City.

The Argentine was thought to be headed for the exit door at the Etihad Stadium following his refusal to warm up during City's Champions League clash with Bayern Munich in September.

Many clubs were linked with short-term moves for the 28-year-old and Redknapp has admitted that he was an interested party.

However, the 65-year-old's hopes of signing the striker were dashed by his excessive wage demands.

"I said to the chairman 'can you get me Carlos Tevez?'," the Daily Star quotes Redknapp as saying. "Daniel made some enquiries, but it wasn't doable. If he could have done it, he would have.

"[Levy] would have loved Tevez, but it wasn't possible because his wages are £200,000 a week. It's not possible at Tottenham to buy him."

Tevez has since returned to the fold for the Citizens.
