Tim Sherwood: 'Harry Kane wouldn't have got chance under different manager'

Tottenham Hotspur boss Tim Sherwood claims that Harry Kane would not have been given a chance at the club under a different manager.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has claimed that Harry Kane would not have been given a chance at the club under a different manager.

The striker scored his third goal in as many starts on Saturday as Spurs beat Fulham 3-1 at White Hart Lane.

Kane has been loaned out to Leicester City, Millwall and Norwich City in recent seasons after finding first-team opportunities limited at the club.

"He would never have got a chance," Sherwood told London24. "I think there are other managers around the country who would never look to their academy to put players in even if they're good enough.

"I've seen a lot of Under-21 football and there are a lot of players about that deserve an opportunity but they just get shipped out somewhere else or go by the wayside and don't feel loved.

"You can't give them all a chance but when someone recognises that they are good enough you've got to give them a chance and you can see what their rewards are."

Kane has scored four goals in 16 appearances this season.
