Ligue 1 side Marseille reportedly emerge as favourites to sign Tottenham Hotspur full-back Danny Rose in the closing stages of the European transfer window.

Marseille are reportedly interested in a late swoop for Tottenham Hotspur full-back Danny Rose.

Rose's future has come under scrutiny in recent weeks, with Paris Saint-Germain and Schalke 04 both linked with the England international.

However, the Daily Star reports that Marseille have now moved to the front of the queue for his services and could attempt to sign him either on loan or on a permanent basis before the end of the European transfer window on Friday.

Rose has not featured for Spurs so far this season having fallen behind Ben Davies in the pecking order, and manager Mauricio Pochettino is understood to be open to the idea of letting the defender leave the club.

The 28-year-old is eager for regular first-team football in an attempt to keep his place in the England squad following the Three Lions' run to the semi-finals of the World Cup this summer.

Gareth Southgate is due to name his first squad since the tournament in Russia on Thursday, with Rose expected to miss out and Luke Shaw tipped for a recall following his early-season form at Manchester United.
