Kenwyne Jones: 'I wanted to leave Stoke City last season'

Kenwyne Jones reveals that he wanted to leave Stoke City last season before Tony Pulis left the club.

Stoke City striker Kenwyne Jones has admitted that he wanted to leave the club last season under the leadership of former manager Tony Pulis.

The 28-year-old, who comes to the end of his contract next summer, has revealed that a number of players were frustrated with Pulis's methods before he left the club in May.

When asked by Sky Sports News if he considered leaving, Jones said: "Yes, of course, because the atmosphere at the job wasn't good and the entire squad can testify to that.

"Coming into work and the things we were doing, the way we were playing football, it was very discouraging for a lot of us and I think not only myself but a lot of players you would probably not have seen at the club come this season if the situation had remained the same."

Pulis was replaced by former Queens Park Rangers boss Mark Hughes shortly after.
