Sunderland have completed the £12m signing of Steven Fletcher from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a four-year contract.
Martin O'Neill has been tracking the Scottish striker all summer following Wolves' relegation to the Championship.
Fletcher made it clear that he wanted to leave and return to the Premier League, alerting several top-flight clubs.
Sunderland were immediately installed as the favourites to land the 25-year-old poacher and, after having several bids rejected, finally broke Wolves' resolve with a reported £12m bid earlier this week.
Fletcher has passed a medical and agreed personal terms at the Stadium of Light and may feature for the Black Cats in their fixture with Reading on Saturday.
