Kyle Bartley hopes that Swansea City's heavy defeat to Liverpool will not cost him a place in the side to face Bradford City in the Capital One Cup final on Sunday.

Swansea City defender Kyle Bartley has set his sights on being involved during the Capital One Cup final on Sunday, despite starting the defeat to Liverpool.

The Swans face League Two outfit Bradford City at the weekend but endured a torrid warm-up to the clash after losing 5-0 at the hands of the Reds last Sunday.

The former Arsenal man, who was part of the backline that was destroyed by the Merseysiders, is hoping that the defeat will not cost him a place in the starting lineup for the final.

"I hope I've done enough to be involved. It's a massive game and one that I want to play in," Bartley told the Daily Star. "I'm not going to lie, I'll be massively disappointed if I'm not playing.

"Losing 5-0 at Liverpool wasn't ideal because I am trying to win a place for the weekend, but I'll assess my performance and see what I can improve.

"Whenever you concede five you've got to look at yourself as a central defender and we'll have a look at what we can do better and hopefully it won't happen again. I feel I've done myself justice in the games I've played this season and hopefully that will be enough to get the nod. It would be my first experience of a cup final, like a lot of the boys, and it would be a huge occasion for me."

The Capital One Cup final kicks off at 4pm on Sunday.
