Unai Emery says that he is "convinced" that star forward Juan Manuel Mata will not leave Valencia this summer.

Unai Emery has said that he is "convinced" that star forward Juan Manuel Mata will not leave Valencia this summer.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs, including Barcelona and Liverpool, with Arsenal the recent favourites. However, the Los Che boss remains confident that the former Real Madrid player will not be leaving the Mestalla for London.

"I've always been convinced that he was [staying], but there's always a chance until August 31. He is a very committed player on and off the pitch," Emery was quoted as saying in Marca.

Valencia begin their challenge for the La Liga crown on August 21 at Osasuna.
