West Bromwich Albion midfielder Chris Brunt charged by Football Association

West Brom midfielder Chris Brunt is charged by the FA for alleged abusive language.

West Bromwich Albion midfielder Chris Brunt has been charged by the Football Association for alleged using abusive or insulting language towards a match official.

The incident is alleged to have taken place at the end of his side's FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday.

The match at Villa Park ended in chaos as thousands of home supporters stormed the pitch following the final whistle.

"It is alleged that in or around the tunnel area after the end of the fixture the player used abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards a match official," read an official FA statement.

Brunt has until 6pm on Thursday to respond to the charge.
