Victor Anichebe vows to work hard for place

Victor Anichebe says that he will keep working hard to earn a starting place at West Bromwich Albion.

On-loan West Bromwich Albion striker Victor Anichebe has revealed his intent to continue to work hard to earn a place in the side's starting XI.

Anichebe scored his first goal for the club in West Brom's 3-2 defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday night, but due to injury and the form of Shane Long he has found himself behind the Irishman in the pecking order.

"I'm going to keep working hard and we'll see where that gets me," Anichebe told the Birmingham Mail.

"Longy has played really well. He scored some great goals against Villa and Chelsea. If someone is playing well, then sometimes you have to wait for your chance.

"I was playing well after Manchester United and I've had a few niggling injuries since then. That knocks you off your feet for a couple of games."

Anichebe has made nine Premier League appearances for the Baggies.
