Andre Ayew back in training for West Ham United

West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic reveals that summer signing Andre Ayew has returned to first-team training after recovering from a muscular problem.

West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has revealed that Andre Ayew has returned to first-team training after recovering from a muscular problem.

Ayew, who joined the Hammers in a £20.5m deal from Swansea City during the summer, sustained an injury to his quadriceps during his debut for the London club against Chelsea in August.

The 26-year-old has now returned to full training, although Bilic has conceded that the forward is unlikely to be available for this weekend's Premier League clash with Sunderland at the London Stadium.

"It is a big boost to have Andre Ayew back in training. He looks good and the medical team have done a great job. We are all delighted. We will try to prepare him for games as quickly as possible. We don't want to rush things but it is great that he is back," Bilic told reporters.

"He has had three sessions with us and is improving every session. He will train today and tomorrow and we will see. We want him back. He probably needs a little more time before he can be ready for games. I know it will not take a long time now. He will probably not be in the squad for the game on Saturday."

Ayew scored 12 times in 35 appearances for Swansea during his debut season in English football.
