Luis Boa Morte pleased with West Ham United survival

Former West Ham striker Luis Boa Morte expresses his delight following the club's Premier League survival.

Former West Ham United striker Luis Boa Morte has expressed his delight at the club staying in the Premier League last season.

The Hammers flirted with relegation for much of the campaign before going on to finish in 13th place in the table.

The team's shaky form led to speculation that manager Sam Allardyce's job was on the line, but the club recently confirmed that he would remain in charge next year.

"They did well to turn things around so I am pleased for them that they managed to stay in the Premier League," Boa Morte told the club's official website.

"People were saying that they were going to go down, but they didn't so that's one more London team that has stayed up when another of my old London clubs, Fulham, went down."

Boa Morte joined West Ham from Fulham in 2007 before leaving the club four years later.
