Owen Coyle expects James McCarthy bids

Wigan Athletic manager Owen Coyle believes that he will be fielding calls about the availability of James McCarthy.

Wigan Athletic manager Owen Coyle has admitted that he is expecting to receive bids for midfielder James McCarthy before the end of the transfer window.

While there has been reported Premier League interest for the player, Coyle said that as yet there has not been a formal offer.

"Do we expect phone calls? Absolutely because that's the nature of the window," Coyle told PA.

"Some will be people chasing, others will be genuine enquiries, and then from that there might be some sort of bids.

"As it is there hasn't been any as of yet but you never say never in this game."

Wigan are currently 12th in the Championship with five points from a possible 12.
