Roberto Martinez says that it is a matter of time before Victor Moses leaves Wigan Athletic.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has admitted that it is only a matter of time before Victor Moses leaves the club to challenge for honours.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Chelsea during the summer transfer window after an impressive Premier League campaign last season.

The Blues have already failed with a £5m bid for the Nigerian international as the Latics stand firm on their £9m valuation.

However, Martinez said that he is resigned to losing Moses at some point as he continues in his development.

"There's been a lot of talk and speculation about Victor Moses," Martinez told the talkSPORT. "I've said to Victor that it's a compliment to be linked to those sorts of clubs, but in football if you want a player, you have to meet the valuation and then you can make a decision.

"So far though, the valuation hasn't been met and in a selfish way I'm delighted. I want Victor to stay with Wigan Athletic for as long as we can keep him. He's such a talented man, though, and only 21.

"It's only a matter of time before he's playing for a club which is challenging for the Premier League title. At the moment he's staying at Wigan though and we're delighted at that. What he did last season shows the development he's had and we are all very, very excited he's with us."

Moses arrived at the DW Stadium from Crystal Palace for £2.5m in 2010.
