Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett indicates that he will hand his current crop of younger strikers an opportunity to perform in League One.

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett has insisted that the younger players at the club deserve their chance in the first team.

The League One outfit still have Kevin Doyle in their ranks, but with the Republic of Ireland international a high earner at Molineux and expected to leave the club, Jackett is keen to place his faith in youth in attack.

The 51-year-old told the Express and Star: "My focus is on these players and making sure that they work as hard as possible to overcome the considerable challenges that we're going to face this season. There are several players here who need a chance.

"Leigh Griffiths was loaned out last season to Hibernian and did very well, Liam McAlinden made one appearance, Jamie Cassidy was loaned out to Tranmere and came back and made six appearances for Wolves, three of which were from the bench.

"Those three have done well in pre-season and it will be interesting to see how they develop."

Wolves begin their campaign with a trip to Preston North End next weekend.
