Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Dean Saunders insists that players have a responsibility to perform when they play for a big club.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Dean Saunders has called for his players to 'stand up and be counted' ahead of their crucial Championship clash with Bristol City.

Only goal difference separates the two sides at the bottom of the table, and both teams know that they could move out of the relegation zone with three points at Molineux.

Wolves retained the majority of the players who were at the club during their relegation from the Premier League last season, and Saunders believes that his players should be strong enough to produce in pressure situations.

The 48-year-old told the Birmingham Mail: "When you play for a big club, the price on the ticket is that you've got to stand up and be counted when it's not going well.

"You've got to do it when the chips are down, or at the other end of the table when you are trying for promotion.

"You've got to produce in those key, pressure situations. That's why you pay millions for players because they have that strength of character and are able to produce."

The former Doncaster Rovers boss has won just one of his 10 matches in charge of Wolves.
