Steve Bruce could reportedly take the reins at Wolverhampton Wanderers this week.

Steve Bruce could reportedly take the reins at Wolverhampton Wanderers this week ahead of the team's Premier League clash with Newcastle United.

Bruce has become favourite to replace Mick McCarthy following the appointment of Neil Warnock at Leeds United and Alan Curbishley ruling himself out of the job.

McCarthy was dismissed from Wolves this month after their 5-1 home defeat to local rivals West Bromwich Albion.

Bruce is available after being sacked from Sunderland in November.
