Richard Gasquet believes that Andy Murray was lucky during their fourth-round clash at Roland Garros.

Richard Gasquet has suggested that Andy Murray was lucky to turn the tide on him during their fourth-round clash at Roland Garros.

The Frenchman was beaten in four sets by the world number four, who now goes on to face David Ferrer in the quarter-final.

Gasquet was the aggressor in the opening stages of the contest and wrapped up a 6-1 first-set victory in just under half an hour, but the Scot came roaring back to take the next three sets with some breathtaking tennis.

However, the home-crowd favourite believes that Murray was lucky during the second set, which changed the momentum of the game.

"He was so lucky during the second set, so many shots not far away [from being out]," said Gasquet. "But then at the beginning of the third set I made a few mistakes.

"Then when he gains confidence, it's really difficult, because he's a fighter, and he's always there. He always hits one shot more than you.

"He played well during the third and fourth sets. It was difficult for me to have the upper hand. He was a difficult player to play against."

Gasquet has now lost all four of his Grand Slam meetings with Murray.
