Top seed David Ferrer claims his third straight Abierto Mexicano Telcel title after a straight-sets win over fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco.

David Ferrer has won his third straight Abierto Mexicano Telcel title after a straight-sets victory over Spanish compatriot Fernando Verdasco in Acapulco.

The top seed dispatched of Verdasco 6-1 6-2 without facing a single break point in a rapid 70 minutes.

The meeting was the second time the pair had faced each other this year, with Ferrer also coming out on top in Auckland.

Saturday's victory means that the world number seven has now evened out his head-to-head record with Verdasco at 7-7.

In the women's event, third seed Sara Errani stormed the deciding set to beat fellow Italian Flavia Pennetta 5-7 7-6[2] 6-0.
