League Two roundup: Oxford United cruise past Morecambe

Sports Mole rounds up all the action from League Two on Saturday.

Oxford United have remained top of League Two with a comfortable 3-0 home win against Morecambe.

Chris Wilder's side opened the scoring through James Constable in the 16th minute and Sean Rigg added a second just nine minutes later.

Then just past the half-hour mark, Ryan Williams wrapped up the scoring with a chip from inside the Morecambe box.

However, the Yellows are in pole position in the table only on goal difference, as Chesterfield kept up the pressure with a 2-0 victory over mid-table Wycombe at home.

Ollie Banks headed home Jay O'Shea's cross in the 32nd minute and Armand Gnanduillet ascertained the points for Paul Cook's side when he headed in Gary Roberts's corner past Matt Ingram on the stroke of half time.

Rochdale maintained their pressure on the top two and remain level on 32 points with them with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Exeter City in front of their own supporters.

Michael Rose broke the deadlock in the 39th minute with a left-footed free kick, but it was cancelled out by Alan Gow just after the break.

However, the hosts spurred on in the second half and scored twice through Graham Cummins and Andrew Tutte to secure the points.

Fleetwood Town are just a point behind the top three but they had to do it the hard way, a stoppage-time penalty from Antoni Sarcevic earning them a 5-4 win.

That winning goal was also Sarcevic's third of the match in which Gareth Evans scored a brace for the home team.

Southend United got the better of York City 2-1 at home to keep their chances of a top-three finish in place, and so did Burton Albion with a narrow 1-0 triumph over Bristol Rovers, but Newport County slipped up as they drew 0-0 at Cheltenham.

Results in full: Accrington 2-1 Torquay, Burton 1-0 Bristol Rovers, Bury 1-1 AFC Wimbledon, Cheltenham 0-0 Newport County, Chesterfield 2-0 Wycombe, Fleetwood 5-4 Mansfield, Hartlepool 2-0 Northampton, Oxford United 3-0 Morecambe, Plymouth 2-1 Dag & red, Portsmouth 1-2 Scunthorpe, Rochdale 3-1 Exeter, Southend 2-1 York
