Preview: Bolton Wanderers vs. Shrewsbury Town - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's League One clash between Bolton Wanderers and Shrewsbury Town, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Bolton Wanderers will continue their League One promotion bid in Tuesday's home clash with Shrewsbury Town.

The Trotters are currently sitting in third place in the table, while the visitors will head into the midweek contest in 19th position.

Bolton lost ground on second-placed Derby County after playing out a 1-1 draw in Saturday's home meeting with leaders Portsmouth.

Abu Kamara gave Portsmouth a seventh-minute lead, before Aaron Collins equalised in the 36th minute with what proved to be the final goal of the contest.

Despite making four games without defeat, Ian Evatt's side are now four points behind Derby, who have played one game more.

Bolton know that they need to win their final three matches against Shrewsbury, Port Vale and Peterborough United to have any hope of closing the gap to Derby.

The Trotters have fared reasonably well in recent meetings with Shrewsbury, having won four of their last five head-to-head meetings (D1), including a 2-0 win in November's reverse fixture.

Shrewsbury have gone four games without a win since claiming a 1-0 away victory over Carlisle United on March 16.

They played out consecutive draws with Oxford United and Bristol Rovers, before they fell to a 3-1 defeat against Portsmouth.

Paul Hurst's side looked set to take a point off Wycombe until Luke Leahy and Richard Kone scored late on following Tom Flanagan's 67th-minute red card, condemning the Shrews to a 2-0 loss at New Meadow.

Although Shrewsbury are still well placed to beat the drop, they still have some work to do to guarantee their safety, with six points separating them from the bottom four.

The Shrews will now turn their attention to Tuesday's fixture, where they will attempt to clinch their first away win over Bolton since April 1990.

Team News

Bolton forward Dan Nlundulu is closing in on a return to fitness, but it is unclear whether he will be passed fit for Tuesday's contest.

Gethin Jones came back from a three-game injury absence to start at the weekend, and he could retain his place in the side, with Evatt likely to select an unchanged lineup.

Dion Charles will provide a useful option from the bench after returning from injury to feature as a late substitute against Portsmouth.

As for the visitors, they are still unable to call upon the services of Aaron Pierre and George Nurse due to injury.

Defender Jason Sraha is set to replace Flanagan, who will start a three-game suspension after being shown a straight red card at the weekend.

Jack Price returned from injury to make a late substitute appearance in Saturday's contest, and the midfielder could be given more minutes in Shrewsbury's midweek away trip.

Bolton Wanderers possible starting lineup:
Baxter; Jones, Santos, Toal; Dacres-Cogley, Thomason, Sheehan, Maghoma, Ogbeta; Bodvarsson, Collins

Shrewsbury Town possible starting lineup:
Marosi; Feeney, Dunkley, Sraha, Benning; Winchester, Perry; Bloxham, Bayliss, Shipley; Udoh

We say: Bolton Wanderers 2-0 Shrewsbury Town

Although Bolton were involved in a draw on Saturday, they have managed to win five of their last eight home matches, and we think that they will make full use of home advantage to claim three points in Tuesday's fixture.
