Jan Aage Fjortoft: 'Ole Gunnar Solskjaer not interested in Cardiff City'

Molde boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will not take over at Cardiff City, according to former Norway striker Jan Aage Fjortoft.

Jan Aage Fjortoft has said that he does not believe that Molde manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be interested in taking over at Cardiff City.

Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan has reportedly put the former Manchester United striker at the top of his list of targets to succeed Malky Mackay.

The Scot was relieved of his duties yesterday after a public bust-up with the Malaysian billionaire, and Fjortoft has said that his fellow countryman would be wary of working with such an owner.

"[It] won't happen," the former Norway international, best known for his days in England at Swindon Town, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Barnsley, told talkSPORT. "I understand that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won't pick a club, he will pick a owner so Cardiff won't happen.

"Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did an interview some weeks ago and said if he goes to England he will be very aware of what owner he's going to work with. Based on what I know there's no chance he'll go to Cardiff City."

"His contract situation is that he has a contract until the summer of 2014, which is normal, but not in Norway as our season goes until November 2014, so it's all fitted for him to go to England."

Solskjaer has been touted for a number of jobs in the Premier League since leading Molde to back-to-back Tippeligaen titles after taking over in 2011.
