Chelsea forward Joao Felix reveals whether he would be interested in securing a permanent transfer to AC Milan on the back of his winter loan move.

Joao Felix has revealed whether he would be willing to consider a permanent transfer from Chelsea to AC Milan during the summer.

During the closing hours of the winter window, Felix was allowed to move to San Siro on a loan deal for the remainder of the campaign.

Having been reduced to nine starts and 11 substitute outings for Chelsea in all competitions, the decision was made to allow the Portugal international to go elsewhere to earn regular game time.

Felix has been able to make an instant impact for his new side, first coming off the substitutes' bench to score in a 3-1 victory over Roma in the Coppa Italia.

His first start came in the number 10 role against Empoli on Sunday, Felix playing 84 minutes during an important 2-0 win for Sergio Conceicao's side.

Felix open to Milan transfer

With Felix on a contract at Stamford Bridge until 2031, it will be difficult for Milan officials - despite a positive working relationship - to negotiate a permanent deal with Chelsea anytime soon.

Chelsea committed to a £46.3m fee when signing the playmaker from Atletico Madrid six months ago and would expect to recoup a fee in that region to cash in on the 25-year-old.

Nevertheless, speaking to Italian media on Monday, Felix has admitted that he would jump at the chance to remain at Milan if it made sense at the end of the season.

Felix said: "For now I'm on loan, until June. Let's see how it goes. For the moment I'm really liking everything: the club, the people, the infrastructure. I've been welcomed very well, both me and my family.

"I feel good here, but we know that in football things can change quickly. But if there was the possibility of staying at Milan I would like to.

"In every club, I had the expectation of playing at my best, but if things don't go well it's important to persevere."

Would a deal make sense for all parties?

Having already represented Benfica, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea and Milan by the age of 25, it is fair to say that Felix would benefit from finding a permanent home.

As long as Cole Palmer is at Chelsea, he will not be used in his preferred number 10 position, so taking on more responsibility at Milan makes sense.

That said, Chelsea currently need to recoup at least £40m to avoid making a loss on Felix in the eyes of the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability regulations.

Unless Milan can win this season's Champions League against the odds, they realistically cannot afford such a deal without making a notable sale.
