Fulham's Rene Meulensteen positive despite defeat against Arsenal

Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen says that he was pleased with his side's display against Arsenal, despite their 2-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium.

Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen has said that there are plenty of positives for his side to take from their 2-0 defeat against Arsenal.

The game was goalless at half time, but two strikes from Santi Cazorla claimed the points for the Gunners, and Meulensteen admits that despite a good defensive performance, they may well have won if they were more clinical in the final third.

"I was very pleased at half-time to say the least," he told the club's official website. "I thought Arsenal started strong but we got into our stride. We knew that we needed to have a very good solid defensive performance today if we wanted to get something out of the game.

"On the back of the Norwich City performance in the FA Cup I stuck to the same defensive line and goalkeeper and I thought we looked very comfortable in the first half at times. If we'd produced a bit more quality in the final third we could have maybe nicked something.

"We lost the three points but there lots of positives to take from the performance from our point of view."

Fulham are currently 17th in the Premier League table and sit one point above the relegation zone.
