Ipswich Town striker Luke Varney will take another big step towards a first-team return when running out for the Under-21s side this afternoon.
The 33-year-old ruptured his Achilles during the Tractor Boys' playoff defeat to Norwich City at the end of last season.
Varney was on loan at Portman Road from Blackburn Rovers at the time, but he has since continued his rehabilitation process with the Suffolk outfit after becoming a free agent in the summer.
A second run-out for Town's Under-21s side against Watford later today will provide another big leap towards full fitness, following on from the behind-closed-doors friendly against Southend United last week.
Varney made 11 appearances for Ipswich upon joining the club in the closing months of last season, scoring his only goal in the 2-1 loss to Huddersfield Town.
